Day 33 (June 12) Palas de Rei to Arzua (18.5 Miles)

Today it rained only enough to refill the puddles and require me to put my rain suit on and take it back off again. That’s okay because it fired up a great frog concert. (Turn up your volume.) An hour into my walk, I ran into Miguel and Roberto. They invited me to join them for lunch in Spain’s best …

Day 32 (June 11) Portomarin to Palas de Reí (16 miles)

Puddle of the Day: That’s enough about the weather. Before leaving Portomarin, I stopped by the church. The whole town was moved from the valley floor in the 1960s, prior to the construction of a dam. The church was taken apart block by block, numbered, and reassembled in a higher location. The numbers (not too subtle) are still visible. The …

The reason for that is, in order to get a “Compostela”, the official certificate from the Catholic Church for completion of the Camino, you must walk a minimum of 100 kilometers. That is the distance from …

Day 30 photo supplement

I have just returned to WiFi and realize that my bad connection last night has again resulted in lost photos. I am enjoying the scenery and think you might too. From the community dinner From the landscape

Day 30 (June 9) Biduedo to San Mamed do Camino (14 Miles)

It did rain today, but not until after I finished my walk and just as I went to hang my laundry on the line. I got lucky because the radiators in the house turned on shortly thereafter and I laid the laundry out to bake. It should be cooked by the time the radiators turn off at 10:00 pm. That …
