Day 16 (May 25) – Burgos to Hontanas: 19.9 Miles

Part 1 Happy Birthday to my dear son, Henry, born 32 years ago today. This trip and much of this blog are dedicated to Sam, but is so important to remember Henry as a great brother to Sam and a great son to John and me. Henry, I am honored to be your Mom. Part 2 Today, I was off …

Day 15 (May 24) Chill Out Day in Burgos : Zero Miles

After 14 non-stop days on the trail, I threw in the towel for a rest day. My body was asking for a break. I had originally budgeted for 3 total rest days on the trek, so it’s about time to cross one off. Burgos is a great place to do that. There is so much to see, and to eat! …

Day 13- Belorado to San Juan de Ortega (15 Miles)

Today I hit the 163 mile mark. That means I am one third of the way to Santiago. Time for a happy dance, but that will have to wait. My feet feel like they were put through a crusher. I don’t even know how I can hobble across the square to dinner in a few hours, much less, get back …

Day 12- Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Belorado (14.5 Miles)

Yesterday, after John left, I did some sightseeing in Santo Domingo. I visited the beautiful cathedral and got the full color on the local legend. To keep it brief, the story involved a hanged man and a cooked chicken that came back to life. (http://www.english.catedralsantodomingo.es/santo_domingo.html) The town takes the legend seriously, in fact, they received a papal dispensation to keep …
